Amarnath Yatra

 

The Amarnath holy shrine is located 145 km from Srinagar at an altitude of 4,175 mtrs above sea level. It will be entirely covered from snow during the month of September-June, the rough weather conditions restricts the visitors which can be visited only during the monsoon season during July-August.

Amarnath is one of the very important pilgrimage places of Hindu in India, there a belief that in every lunar month, the icy Shivalinga in the Amarnath cave starts to come to shape on every first day of the bright half during the month. The Linga comes to its complete size on full moon day & later it starts to melt & vanishes during no moon day.

There is a trek about 145km which is very adventurous between Srinagar & Amarnath with a very beautiful environment surrounding it. On the way there are other important temples like Anantnag, Deviangan, Bijbehara, Akingam, Lukbhavan, and Nagdandi Ashram along with the shrine of Baba Hyder Rishi situated in Anantnag. Chandanwadi, is collection of rivers like Asthan Marg & Sheshnag. It is aslo said at Pishu Ghati, the Gods have defeated the Demons. The ere is a birth of a river on the same name. Wavjan lies just before the steep climb to the Mahagunus Pass & is located at an altitude of 14,000ft above sea level. It is the last climb while trekking to Amarnath, after that there is a downy slope which leads to Panchatarni. The Amarnath Yatra is always preplanned to reach the place during the full moon day.
